There are always volunteer opportunities open at YWCA Cambridge: we’ll take all the eager hands we can get! Find the opportunity that's right for you.

We are always looking for more volunteers for our social enterprise, Women's International Gift & Gallery. This is an easy and fun way to support our organization…and did we mention there are some great perks as well? This opportunity is perfect for someone who has some time during the week (average of one 3-4 hour shift once a week). If you think this is a fit for you contact us.

Special Event Volunteers

With three big annual fundraisers, as well as monthly conferences, workshops and events, we could always use some extra hands! Do you have some time to contribute to a monthly planning committee? Only available for a few hours to help us on the day of our events? Let us know your skills and availability, and we’ll put you to work! For more information on current opportunities or to tell us about what you're looking for, contact us.

Roots of Empathy

Roots of Empathy VolunteerOur Roots of Empathy program season starts in September every year: as such, our recruitment cycle for volunteers and families typically runs from May-August annually. BUT we're always collecting volunteers and might be able to find another way for you to support the program! Find out more about the program: or if you're interested in one of the below opportunities, contact us.

Roots of Empathy Volunteer Family

Parents with babies who will be 2-4 months old in October work with a trained Roots of Empathy Instructor. You will visit the classroom a total of 9 visits throughout the year once a month from October to June. Classes last approximately 30-40 minutes. One parent is required to attend each classroom visit and sometimes the second parent also joins in (schedule permitting). If you are expecting a baby in June - early September and are interested in participating please contact us.

Roots of Empathy Volunteer Instructor

Roots of Empathy Instructors reap the rewards of helping children become more caring and responsible citizens! Many Instructors come with backgrounds in teaching, health, social work and recreation. They are comfortable speaking in front of classrooms and working with children. We welcome all volunteers interested in this role who have the time available. If you have approximately 2 hours each week for the 27 weeks of the program (mid-October - June) this opportunity could be for you. Due to the investment made in training and support during the first year of delivery, we do ask for a 2 year commitment.

The W Centre Volunteers

Girls Centre VolunteerDo you have an interest in supporting leadership opportunities for girls and youth? Are you interested in helping us create a safe space for cis and trans girls and non-binary youth? Do you have some awesome skills or mentorship experience that you think could benefit others? From movie nights to workshops and special events, we’ve got a place for you: so come and find your place! Contact us for more information.
