Small Steps MainPgAbout

Small Steps to Success is a holisitic pre-employment and life skills program for women who face significant barriers due to social, economic and educational hardships. We offer a 12 week program that includes a 3 week volunteer placement and takes place in a class setting Monday to Friday from 9:30 to 12pm.

Aimed at supporting women in our community, Small Steps to Success provides the opportunity to gain the skills and confidence needed to be successful in the workplace or in a school setting. Participants will learn how to identify their strengths and goals, resources in the community, how to job search, write a resume and cover letter, how to excel in interviews and make meaningful connections with other women while in a supportive learning environment.

Groups start in September, January and April of each year. This program is run out of The W, YWCA Cambridge's collective space for women and girls.

We Offer...

Small supportive groups; Job placements; Career exploration; Community resources; Resume writing and much more. Assistance with transportation and child care available! Contact us for more information.

Women in Transition

Women In Transition was born out the feedback that has been received from group members after completing Small Steps to Success, still feeling that they could benefit from further support in developing self-esteem and self-love. We recognize that many of the building blocks that we work on developing within Small Steps cannot me maintained without a strong foundation of self-love, acceptance and ongoing self-care.  We hope to create a safe and supportive environment to identify our growth areas and begin to cement that strong foundation in order to continue to move forward.   These women are also  joined by women who are hoping to enter Small Steps to Success in future, though through our intake process are deemed to have certain barriers that prevent them from being group ready at that time-with the goal being entrance to an upcoming session of Small Steps upon successful completion of Women In Transition. Each week we discuss a topic related to Self Love and Self Esteem  and complete an accompanying healing arts activity within our art journals.

This small, supportive group meets for 6-8 weeks prior to the next Small Steps to Success cycle, with the hope that women would transition into the Small Steps program.  Contact us for more information.
