Manager of Donor Relations and Communications

Position Overview:
YWCA Cambridge is seeking a dedicated and skilled Manager of Donor Relations & Communications to oversee donor engagement, manage our donor database, and communicate the transformative impact of our programs to stakeholders. This role is integral to our fundraising, community outreach, and sponsorship initiatives, ensuring a strong connection with donors and partners while supporting the goals of the philanthropy and communications departments.

Key Responsibilities:

Donor Management & Database Oversight:

  • Maintain and update the donor database with accuracy and attention to detail to ensure clean data.
  • Track donor interactions, contributions, and correspondence to ensure timely follow-up and reporting.
  • Analyze donor data to identify trends and opportunities for growth.

Impact Reporting:

  • Collaborate with departmental supervisors to create compelling impact reports and stories that highlight donor contributions and their effects on program participants, service users, and the broader community.
  • Develop narratives and data-driven content that communicate program outcomes effectively.

Community Outreach & Sponsorship:

  • Build and maintain relationships with community partners, corporate sponsors, and individual donors.
  • Coordinate and attend community outreach activities to raise awareness of YWCA Cambridge initiatives.
  • Conduct donor prospecting
  • Develop sponsorship packages and presentations tailored to potential partners.

Fundraising Events:

  • Support the planning, promotion, and execution of fundraising events.
  • Support outreach and event committee activities
  • Represent YWCA Cambridge at our events, and engage donors, sponsors, and attendees.
  • Provide logistical support and post-event reporting on social, web and email analytics to ensure continuous improvement.

Communications:

  • Draft and edit donor correspondence, newsletters, and reports.
  • Assist in the development and execution of communications strategies to engage donors and the community.
  • Support the philanthropy and communications departments in aligning messaging with organizational goals.
  • Maintain and update organization website

Administrative & Team Collaboration:

  • Attend and contribute to team meetings, both in-office and virtual.
  • Provide general administrative support to the philanthropy and communications departments.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with fundraising and communications trends.

Qualifications:

Required Skills and Experience:

  • At least two years of experience in donor relations, fundraising, or related experience/education.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, experience with research, and the ability to craft compelling narratives.
  • Proficiency in data management and donor database software (e.g., DonorPerfect, Raiser’s Edge, or similar systems).
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently when required.
  • Experience in community outreach and event planning.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with social media platforms.
  • Familiar with the social and political landscape of Waterloo Region as well as Cambridge and North Dumfries.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with the non-profit sector, particularly in the areas of gender equity or social services, generally.
  • Basic knowledge of graphic design tools like Canva.
  • Experience with CRM systems and data analysis tools.
  • Experience in wordpress and divi editor.

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to attend in-office meetings and events as required.
  • Flexibility to work evenings or weekends for fundraising events.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of YWCA Cambridge.
  • Vulnerable sector check.

Compensation:
YWCA Cambridge offers a salary of $73,000 for this one-year contract, along with opportunities for professional growth and a collaborative team environment.
