Our Youth Programs At the W Asset 10

We are proud to offer a wide selection of participant-led, participant-focused and strengths-based programs at our space, The W. Learn more about each program below!

Shyft

SHYFT (Shaping & Helping Youth Form Tomorrow) is a 12-week program for cis and trans girls, non-binary and Two-Spirit youth ages 8 to 14. This program provides opportunity for discussion and action, by allowing participants to make sense of what they are experiencing externally and feeling internally. The goal of SHYFT is to foster critical thinking skills and provide outlets for participants to create their own social-justice based media-arts projects.

TechGyrls

TechGyrls is a 12-week program for cis and trans girls, non-binary and Two-Spirit youth ages 9 to 13.In this unique program, participants have the opportunity to explore, design, create and share all things related to Science, Technology, Engineering and Math! Absolutely no skill or knowledge level is necessary to participate.

Where I Stand

Where I Stand is a 12 week program for cis and trans girls, non-binary and Two-Spirit youth ages 8-14. In this program we look at how the world impacts us by critically assessing how the impact of gender roles, socialization, and other factors have on our overall well-being and fuel gender inequity and gender-based violence. The goal of Where I Stand is to support youth in developing greater resilience, critical thinking, and an awareness of intersectionality. In past programs, we have made self-care kits, personalized journals, and created mixed media self-portraits.
