Important Notice Regarding The Potential CUPE Strike

Oct 4, 2019 | Blog, News

With the possibility of a CUPE strike starting Monday, October 7, it is important that we communicate with our service users who might be impacted by the strike.

If a strike happens October 7, our child care services at St. Elizabeth and St. Margaret will be affected.

The Waterloo Catholic District School Board has indicated that we will be permitted to continue our before and after school programs using the classrooms in the schools, but are not permitted to provide a PD day- like schedule and use of the classrooms during the school day. This means that we will continue toddler and preschool programs, as well as before and after care. However, we will not be able to provide child care for ages 6-12 during the day.

We will keep you informed as much as we can throughout this process. Parents/Guardians and participants: please have patience and understanding at this time when you are approaching the schools. We remind you that there may be picket lines at our sites throughout the day and into the evening. These lines may slow and/or stall traffic as vehicles or pedestrians try to enter school parking lots. Please be respectful and show patience as these employees show their right to demonstrate.
