Community Service Providers Partner to Host Public All-Candidates Meeting on Future of Social Services, Cambridge and Kitchener South-Hespeler Ridings

Social service providers from across Cambridge and North Dumfries have partnered to host two provincial election all-candidates meetings on the future of the social services sector on Tuesday, May 17.

Family Counselling Centre of Cambridge & North Dumfries (FCC), YWCA Cambridge, Cambridge Shelter Corporation, Cambridge Foodbank and the Cambridge and North Dumfries Ontario Health Team have partnered to host two virtual all-candidates meetings on May 17, one for Cambridge riding candidates and another for Kitchener South-Hespeler candidates. The meetings will be moderated by Tara Kleinsteuber (YWCA Cambridge) and Dr. Sharon Bal (CND Ontario Health Team).

“The pandemic has both revealed and accelerated the need in the community for social and health supports,” said Cameron Dearlove, interim Executive Direct of FCC.

“Each of our agencies, whether we are providing shelter, healthcare, or mental health supports, are seeing unprecedented demand. We want to hold a session where we can talk openly about the challenges people are facing in the community, and give candidates an opportunity to give their perspectives and plans to solve these issues.”
