Take Back the Night – Rally, March & Feminist Night Market
ake Back the Night is a powerful opportunity to celebrate, support and recognize survivors of sexual and gender-based violence. It connects community with organizations and folks working to end gender-based violence and who can support survivors in their healing, it is a reclaiming of the right to walk the streets free from the fear of violence and a time when we can come together to rally and march in resistance.
This year we are excited to include a Mini-Feminist Night Market, highlighting local artists, makers and small businesses, to help support the event and offer folks a chance to purchase their own feminist finds or swag for the event!
We will meet at The W (101-20 Dickson St, Cambridge) a community space operated by YWCA Cambridge, where you are welcome to gather and connect with market vendors and community organizations inside. Outside there will be sign making, sidewalk chalking, art making, games and more! The rally will take place out front of The W and the march will being there as well.
This event and YWCA Cambridge is located on the Haldimand Tract, land promised to the Haudenosaunee people of the Six Nations, which includes six miles on either side of the Grand River. This territory is the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishnaabeg and Haudenosaunee Peoples. Understanding and working toward the elimination of sexual and gender based violence must also include an understanding and commitment to decolonization and include Indigenous people of this land.
All genders are welcome to take part in this event. This will be a youth and family-friendly event.
