The Opportunity

YWCA Cambridge is seeking a creative, strategic, and data-informed Marketing Specialist to join our Communications & Advocacy team. This is a newly created, one-year contract position that plays a central role in shaping how our mission, impact, and advocacy are shared with the community.

Reporting to the Director of Communications & Advocacy, the Marketing Specialist balances strategic planning with hands-on execution. The role serves as a key connector between Communications and Philanthropy, ensuring that campaigns across advocacy, fundraising, and organizational communications are visually compelling, consistent, and results-driven.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Marketing & Analytics

  • Develop and implement data-informed marketing plans that strengthen YWCA Cambridge’s brand, advocacy, and community impact
  • Establish, track, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess effectiveness and guide continuous improvement

Social Media & Digital Marketing

  • Create, write, design, and schedule engaging social media content (campaign-based, event-specific, and evergreen)
  • Manage digital advertising and paid social media ads, including reporting on performance and reach
  • Monitor social media analytics and apply insights to optimize engagement and audience growth

Integrated Communications

  • Lead the development and distribution of monthly internal and external (alternating) e-newsletters
  • Support and execute organizational email marketing campaigns in collaboration with Philanthropy and Communications
  • Manage the production of the Annual Report, including copy development and layout coordination

Philanthropy & Fundraising Support

  • Collaborate with the Philanthropy team to create marketing assets for donor appeals, campaigns, and fundraising events
  • Support fundraising goals through compelling storytelling and integrated marketing strategies

Organizational & Cross-Departmental Support

  • Act as a marketing liaison across departments to ensure brand consistency and alignment
  • Support member and volunteer engagement as a brand ambassador for YWCA Cambridge

Qualifications & Experience

  • Post-secondary education in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of demonstrated professional experience in digital marketing, social media management, and content creation preferably in a non-profit or charitable environment
  • Experience with analytics, reporting, and data-informed decision-making
  • Strong writing, editing, and visual storytelling skills
  • Experience with social media paid advertising and email marketing platforms considered an asset
  • Demonstrated success in managing social media platforms for an organization and interpreting digital analytics as well as executing and measuring advertising campaigns and budgets
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, collaborate across teams, and meet deadlines
  • The ability to see “the big picture” and align daily tasks with the organization’s long-term advocacy and fundraising goals
  • Proficiency in Canva (or similar design platforms/software) and the Google Suite to produce professional grade visual assets. 
  • Experience working with project management tools like Asana
